Varun Mandalapu


Varun Mandalapu is a Ph.D. Candidate at the University of Maryland Baltimore County in the Department of Information Systems with a specialization in Data Science & Artificial Intelligence. Varun works as a research assistant under Dr. Jiaqi Gong at Sensor Accelerated Intelligent Learning (SAIL) Lab and co-advised by Dr. Karen Chen. Before enrolling in Ph.D. degree, Varun completed his master’s degree in Management Information Systems at the University of Illinois Springfield and a master’s degree in Sensor Systems Technology from Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore, India. Varun is also an affiliate member of IEEE EMBS technical committee on Wearable Biomedical Sensors and Systems.


His current research focuses on applications of Artificial Intelligence in Education and Healthcare domains.
